Textile Technology Engineering

The rapid and growing development of various sciences in the world, necessitates the proper planning and excessive efforts to coordinate with extensive scientific and industrial advances. Undoubtedly self-confidence and optimal use of human creativity and national wealth are the most prominent factors that can be effective in this regards. In fact by suitable planning and the ideal utilization of tools and available probabilities, it is possible to progress through the path of progress and improvement.
The undergraduate division of Textile Engineering is one of the higher eduation categories with the aim of training and educating specialists with the required scientific and technical capabilities in the field of producing various kinds of yarn, fabric, clothing and industrial textiles and also the engineering of production machines, production of fibers and application of chemicals, in order to provide textiles for different applications such as clothing, home and technical textiles.
Some of the important procedures in this field are the production of cotton, woolen, worsted and synthetic yarns and also the fabrication of woven and knitted fabrics and various kinds of floor-coverings, clothing and dying, finishing and printing of textiles; in addition to the design and analysis of the characteristics of clothing and technical textiles.
Textile technology is more concerned with the physical and mechanical processes of textile sciences. It means that in this section, the fibers are gathered together with the aid of different machines and in a series of procedures converted to yarns and then the produced yarns are used to produce fabrics.
In the textile technology field, various methods for converting fibers to yarns (spinning), yarns to fabrics (weaving and knitting) and different processes of manufacturing non-woven fabrics and technical fabrics are presented to students. In order to identify the textile machinery and construction of them, the students of this field, study courses related to mechanical engineering such as statics, dynamics and strength of materials. After graduation, the textile engineers can have an important role in improvement of production and problem solving and by having the textile knowledge in different aspects, they can enhance the performance of industrial textile factories.
On the whole, the required courses in this specialty are:
•             Fundamentals and mechanisms of spinning: Comprehensive introduction to the existing principles and mechanisms of the spinning of short and long staple fibers
•             Modern spinning systems: Overview of the basis and processes of modern yarn spinning
•             Fundamentals and mechanisms of weaving: General study of the weaving machines mechanisms
•         Mechanisms of knitting: Study of the various mechanisms of jacquard and its design, mechanism of machinery for the production of conventional and special fabrics and performance evaluation and electronic control of machines and using computers in them
•             Statistical quality control: Study of basic tools to improve the quality and control charts of different textile units
•             Machine components design: Introduction to the fundamentals of machine design and using a simple, regular approach and in the form of a set of practical issues
•             Weave technic: Study of the basis of woven fabric design, in various applications
•           Technical analysis, design and calculations of fabrics construction with computer: Study of the fundamentals of technical analysis of the fabrics and designing of woven fabrics with computer
•             Mechatronics and laboratory: Introduction to logic circuits, electronic components and devices and their operation, and familiarity with data collection methods
•             Floor covering technology: Production methods of machinery floor coverings, including machine woven carpet, needle felted and tufted carpets
•             Design of mechanisms: Study of levers, cams and power transmission by gearboxes

Graduates of this field will have the following scientific and practical abilities after passing the required courses:
•             Having the ability to analyze engineering issues and problems and provide practical solutions to solve them
•             Knowledge over the types of raw materials used in the textile and clothing industries and their applications
•             Knowledge of various textile production methods
•             Having the knowledge and ability to use different tools and methods in controlling the quality of the product
•             Familiarity with how to use different basis of mathematics, physics, chemistry in solving engineering problems
•             Awareness of the chemical, physical and mechanical properties of textiles and their effect on the performance and efficiency of materials in various operations of the production line, textiles appearance and behavior during use
•             Familiarity to the principles of material behavior and process factors and their impact on production quality
•             Knowledge of the different technologies and machines used in the various stages of the production line
•             Having the ability to analyze a sample (reverse engineering) and produce a new product
•             Determining the different stages of production considering the important factors in each of the production stages
•             Awareness of the principles of machine automation, advanced production technology, select the required level of automation
