The presence of four faculty members from the Textile Engineering Department of Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic) among the top 1% and 2% of the most cited researchers of the world in the 2024 report.
In this joint project, over recent years, data from the Scopus database has been analyzed using a specialized methodology to identify and present a list of the world's most highly cited researchers in a comprehensive database. The developed methodology is based on a set of standardized citation metrics designed to evaluate the citation impact of researchers across various disciplines and scientific fields.
The latest update of this database was published in September 2024. This list analyzes the citation performance of authors based on their published research outputs over time in 22 major subject areas and 174 subfields. Based on this analysis, it identifies authors who are ranked among the top 2% most highly cited researchers globally.
Part of this report highlights the presence of 1018 Iranian researchers in the list of the world's highly cited researchers, based on their citation performance during their scientific careers (citation period 1996–2023) as well as citations in the year 2023. Among those listed are Dr. Majid Montazer, Dr. Ali Akbar Merati, Dr. Mokhtar Arami, and Dr. Seyed hajir Bahrami from the Textile Engineering Department of Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic).
According to the report from the Islamic World Science & Technology Monitoring and Citation Institute (ISC), Dr. Majid Montazer has also been listed among the top 1% of scientists of the world.

The list of the world's top 2% most highly cited researchers is derived based on the findings of a joint project by Elsevier and a group of researchers from Stanford University, commonly referred to as the "Stanford University List".
